Millicent Parklands Revitalisation Project

The town of Millicent will benefit from a $267,5000 grant through last week’s State Budget to redevelop the Domain Millicent Parklands and Civil Precinct.
The project, which is jointly funded dollar for dollar between the State Government and the Wattle Range Council, has been made available through the Open Space Grant Programme, administered by the Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure.
The funding will be used for the following:
- Construction of a nature play area adjacent to the current play ground
- Conversion of the old tennis courts into a multi-sport area surrounded by a high mesh net with a climbing wall incorporate into the fence line
- New bridge crossing over a stormwater swale
- Installation of shading and shelter for the existing playground
- Creation of a significant entry marker at the Williams Road Entry
Member for MacKillop, Nick McBride MP says the project will create a great space for festivals and community events.
“This funding is fantastic news for the town of Millicent. It will re-invigorate the town’s public spaces by offering plenty of recreational options that will appeal to a wider population. It will encourage locals and visitors to the town to participate in outdoor activities, which will help improve their well-being, and encourage a more healthy lifestyle.”

Other recent good news for Wattle Range from the budget has included funding through the Office of Recreation of and Grass Roots Football and Netball facilities Programme where:
- $108,000 was granted to replace oval lighting at McLaughlin Park
- $150,000 was granted to the Kalangadoo Football Club to support an upgrade to their facilities
