About Nick

Nick McBride, the Independent member for the seat of MacKillop, has lived and worked in the south-east his entire life.

As a successful primary producer, long established business owner, Chairman and board member of numerous local not-for-profit organisations, Nick’s knowledge and appreciation of the region is unrivalled.

His deep connection to the south-east, both before he entered parliament and since his election in 2018, means that he understands the wide variety of issues that affect local businesses and households - and is why he is always here for all of MacKillop.

Nick is committed to his local community, and his experience as a pastoralist and primary producer means that he has an intimate understanding of the region’s economy, and what is important to business owners, farmers, and households in the south-east.

Being born and bred in MacKillop also means that Nick has built up strong connections with people who live and work in every sector throughout the region. He is also closely involved with local sporting and social groups, which is why he is so engaged with the issues affecting local people, and equipped to represent the entire community.

Nick is a strong and continuous advocate for regional South Australia, and fights hard to ensure that MacKillop and the south-east receives its fair share of infrastructure spending, with particular focus on improving the regions roads and drainage networks. phone coverage, educational and child care services

Identifying new areas for growth and development across the region is central to his vision, including improving the standard and accessibility of medical facilities and health services for local people.

Nick’s priority is always his constituents and now as an independent MP he is best placed to advocate and deliver on the needs of his community regardless of which side of politics decision makers are on.

In addition, Nick prides himself on his approachability, and the open and honest relationships he has with local people of all ages - regularly taking part in community events across the electorate . He  is always enthusiastic about promoting the achievements and contributions of people living and working in MacKillop, especially the academic and sporting successes of young people. Nick can be found umpiring in his limited spare time which gives his great joy in helping to develop young sportspeople in the South East.
